Our Spring Term Topic 1: Deadly 60

This term we will be learning about some of the world's deadliest animals.  We will be discovering facts about their lifecycles, habitats, how they reproduce and what they need to survive.

As an introduction to our new topic the children were asked to research a deadly animal.

In ICT, using the laptops, the children had fun working in pairs to create a fact sheet for a deadly animal - they experimented with different fonts and colours. Here are a selection.

In Literacy, the children have been looking at the characteristics of informal and formal letters and learning how to write a formal letter. As part of our topic work the children watched an episode of DEADLY 60 (a wildlife documentary programme for children) presented by Steve Backshall. The children wrote to Steve Backshall introducing themselves and asking him questions about his job/career. Here are the children's letters.

The children are having great fun creating a deadly animal sculpture using a milk carton and art rock. When the sculpture is dry the children will then decorate it with their own design.

Can you guess which deadly animal it is going to be?
