Spring 1 Topic: Whatever the Weather

Whatever the Weather

Our topic this half term is 'Whatever the Weather'.

We began our topic with a weather day and spent the entire morning outside! We experimented with a range of weather equipment (such as windmills and wind socks), we observed and named the different clouds we could see in the sky and learnt a little bit about how and why it rains. We also had a lot of fun splashing in 'home-made' puddles!!

In literacy we watched a video clip of a thunderstorm and then created our own shape poems based upon what we saw and heard! We thought carefully about the adjectives we were going to use and then worked in teams to bring them to life!

The children wrote non-chronological reports (fact sheets) about the weather equipment we have on our school grounds. Here are a selection.

In topic we have been learning about the different countries in the UK. We also used weather symbols to record what the weather was like across the UK for a whole week. We watched daily weather reports and enjoyed pretending to be weather presenters!
