Spring 2 - Traditional Tales

This half term we will be learning about Traditional Tales. The children will listen to a range of fairy stories and begin to use story language when retelling them. They will learn more about how a story is structured and have a go at writing their own short story. The children will have opportunities to grow beans,  taste porridge and make gingerbread men.

We will take part in waste week and make a traditional tale scarecrow character.

As Easter approaches we will look at how people celebrate Easter and spot signs of spring. We will also be learning songs for our spring assembly

A collection of our work from this term. We have collaged goats, enjoyed making porridge and investigating how it changes, completed maths using Granny's basket, described characters using adjectives, role played lots of stories, created story maps, built bridges and have thoroughly enjoyed our role play castle.

We even squeezed in 'Water Day'. We learnt about water and where it comes from, we sequenced how to wash our hands, played catch the raindrops on the IWB, made super rain gauges to measure the rainfall and had great fun playing a game outside where we had to carry a bucket of water across obstacles without spilling a drop, team work was the way to do it!
